CDs won't work in my laptop DVD drive
Hi, We have a DVD drive (says DVD Recordable on the face) and when we put in a CD-R Recordable into the drive, after a minute or 2 of trying to read the CD, Windows Vista responds with "insert disc". We've tried 3 of these discs, and can't get it to read them. The discs also say 12X 700 MB 80 Min.
Any help? Could we need a special disc for our laptop drive? The laptop is an HP DV7, about 2 years old. Help soon! WE have customers we have to give this disc to. Thanks Natelle |

Have you recorded anything on the CD yet? If it is a blank CD and you are trying to read it you will get the message you are seeing. You need to use CD burning software to write data to the disk first.
If you mean that you get that message when trying to burn the CD then that's an issue.

Try blowing the dust out of the drive and or get a drive cleaning kit.
