ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z LGA 1155

I just received one a couple of days ago for a gaming build (extreme) for an old customer. His son is 5 years older now and totally different looking. I can't wait for him to come and test this rig out.

It really is the best motherboard I have ever built with. The quality and attention to detail is remarkable. I had one issue with the AI suite and Asus sent me the fix within 24 hours,....nice

This board loves it some Corsair Vengeance and the Hyper 212+ cooler. Total ease for overclocking. I cringe when people want me to tweak their systems because I am all about stable and not a fan of pushing voltage boundaries. They have eliminated me from the X58 scenario. I was good at the X58 but too many variables. Running 4.6 on air at 30 C. Prime 95 never went over 60 c at max.

running dual 580's .... waste of money but they are dropping the green just like last time when I advised them against it.

I am running into issues with cooling, going to move build into a LIAN LI PC-A71F see if I can shave a few degree.

Nice! Is this board is just for gamers or for who else would it be recommended for?

It's a motherboard for people who have more money than common sense! That's a $360 board.

This is something I have realized in OC since I been reading around here and other forums. But in other forums they seem to rant over whose numbers is higher. Instead of OC at proper numbers where running stable is good enough. Like Jdeb mentioned, I got to tell you guys I am very glad I found you guys first!

Once cold Heineken Salud PCMECH!!! I am going to bed now good night guys!

It is a gamers or enthusiast board all the way. Yes, the kids Dad has serious money and it is no object, only the best. The kids first car was his Dad's old Mercedes. The kid totally destroyed my last build with overclocking (Foxconn Blackops) went through three boards and two CPU's until he figured out overclocking... I have never seen so many overclock settings with this new board, I will give him a month and I will be servicing the rig.

If someone has the bucks then why not? People buy Ferrari's and multi-million dollar homes as well and I don't see that as stupid. I see that as having the ability to purchase something they really want.

How boring would life be if we only purchased what we absolutely need? I just bought a fully loaded Mini Cooper S convertible because I did not want to commute two hours per day in a boring car, like a Honda Civic or a Toyota Prius. From a purely economic perspective they would have been a better choice. The same goes for my gaming computer....this is what I wanted because it is fun.

If someone wants an expensive motherboard with a bunch of bells and whistles then I would not begrudge them for wanting that. Their philosophy about things is just different from this forums philosophy of providing the most reliable hardware for the cheapest price.
