Quick question about USB 3.0
I have an ASUS P67 sabertooth board, which has 2 usb 3.0 ports on the back, i havent ever used these yet until today. The reasoning whyis i only have 1 USB 3.0 device, my newish 1tb WD black backup drive, so i havent ever tried any other devices on the 3.0. Whenever i try to plug in the device into the USB 3.0 port it doesnt fully recognize it. It shows up, but i cant really do anything with it. When plugged in via USB 2.0 any other port, it works properly. But when plugged in 3.0 its slow, unresponsive, and useless essentially. Am i missing some kind of software or update? And btw i am using a 3.0 external enclosure.

Ah ok, i thought that might have been it but i wasnt sure. Ill do that and letcha know how it goes.
![]() Edit: K, just tried that, no luck. Its acting now as if the drive werent formated, as in, it keeps installed/uninstalling itself every 2 seconds. It shows up in the devices and printers area on control panel, but it just disapears then re-apears again. It functions normally with usb 2.0 though. USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge. Also, i can hear the drive physically ramping up and down with at the same tempo kinda to the sound of a device being plugged in and out.

If you have the driver installed, no problems in device manager, then sure call Asus because it may be a setting in the BIOS or controller issue. Have you tried any other device like a thumb drive to rule out the hard drive or an issue with it and USB3.0?

***, works perfectly now. I guess the driver required a bit of time to set in or something...Either way working now.
