It been about 6 months I believe since I did my build and I am now trying to fix the issue I been procrastinating about due to being busy and I just started school.
About a month ago a couple of days after black Friday one of those generators or whatever is that tank outside on the light post blew up. All the lights in my house went out and we had just bought a TV and my PC was on. Well I tried to turn on my PC it wouldn't turn on until we switch back the switches from the fuse box of the house. Well my PC at first turned on later on I turned it off and power it back on the next day in the morning. I noticed it turns on and then after 3 seconds it kinds of like restarts again and then it proceeds to boot. It does this every time now since that day when i turn on my PC. Also my CPU temperature has been a problem now. My temperature of the CPU was always between 30c and 40c. Now it seems to climb up to 60c and the higher it goes gets to 80c when my motherboard send me a warning once it reaches 80c I close my Google chrome internet and wait till it goes down. I am not sure if is with Google chrome since I been using IE9 and Firefox and do not seem to notice the problem with them. Yes I will be doing the PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!! for the first issue. I was thinking in wiping out everything out of my HDD and restore everything.

Is the system clock set correctly? Date and time?

This problem was happening before I even re installed my OS and now that I did the re install it I am still getting this problem sometimes. I am checking on my drivers and my date and time were wrong and I fix them already.

The only time I've seen this error was on a machine that had its date set to some day in AD 2032 or so. Fixing the date, fixed the problem. A faulty mobo battery, mayhaps?

Well the way I restarted my mobo to fix my first problem was I unplug the PSU cables from mobo and removed the battery for the night and in the morning I plug everything back and put my battery back and everything was turning on now like it was suppose to.

That would do it, removing the battery always resets all values in the BIOS.

I just did a internet speed test and this is what i found http://www.speedtest.net/result/1705931086.png
I also made a post a while back about my modem so it seems like is definitely time to go ahead and replace it with a new one. I just haven't done it since I am a little tight with money right now. But I am going to do it soon. I am going to take GLC advice since he was the only one to recommend me one then. Well looks like i got my issues fix. There were a whole bunch of updates on my motherboard not up to date im wondering if my mobo suppose to detect that and let me know or im going to be checking the mobo site every time something is wrong.
As to what I'm paying for I am not sure since I don't pay for it my mother does. But I am willing to bet we are not getting what we paying for. I am looking to upgrade to a better internet to get better Mbps. But I am going to find out what is our internet plan and how much we paying and if they have not be giving us close to what we paying for then they going to have to do something about that! |

Where are you getting all these updates for the mobo? What kind of updates are they: drivers or BIOS?

My mobo is an Asus Z68-V Pro so basically I look up my mobo on Asus site and check for the drivers it also comes with an Asus program called Asus Suite II where you can monitor the temperature of the CPU, mobo, control some of the fans speed including the CPU. I have a feeling my bios might need an update as well I am not sure, I haven't quite learn how to check that well.
My CPU temperature seems to go up and stay around 35 and 45. It hasn't past 50 like before I been monitoring now and then when I am using it. I am thinking the stock CPU fan is going to have to go and install an after market one I have. Quick question and requesting for help here, I have fire fox version 3.6 which I need for my school online classes and work. Also certain plugins needs to be working but the only plugin I am missing and can't seem to get it detect is window media player. Any idea how to get this plugin going in fire fox?? |

Those temps are normal for the Sandybridge CPU.
To check your plug-ins, follow the link below Firefox Web Browser |

@Jdeb thanks for the link but I managed to figure it out last night after hours of searching
So my power was leaving back and forth this early morning like crazy I am not sure why. Since I was on my PC all night It was on and I jump in the shower this morning and went I came out I noticed my power craziness and ran to my PC and shut off the surge protector to shut my station down. I didn't turn it back on until now I got back home she fire right away and a screen pop up saying "overclocking failed" I've seen this many times already and I also believe is not reading my memory like is suppose to I will post a couple of pictures so maybe you guys can see if anything is wrong. First of all dont ever just turn of the switch on your surge protector, shut the computer down normally and then unplug the surge protector from the wall.
Second your board is set to auto overclock your cpu, and its is not liking something that is happening. I would turn the AI overclock feature off and see if you have any more problems.

Reseat your memory. Reset your BIOS. After everything stabilizes in the home, look for a BIOS update if problems continue which I suspect they may. Follow Birddogs advice.

I am assuming when I removed the "watch battery" from the mobo basically resets everything. I looked at my bios version now and looked for any update bios and there is a new one. I downloaded and it came in a winzip folder I unzip and I see a ROM file when I click on it it saids "windows can not open this file" I have no clue how to update my BIOS any help here?

Why do you think you need to update your BIOS?
Removing the battery does not reset BIOS versions. Flashing a BIOS is permanent, regardless of whether the battery is ever removed or not. |

How to update your bios should be addressed in the motherboard manual, which you did read, right?
Clue: You don't do it in Windows, and you need a USB flash drive. |

What is typically recommended is if your bios is working fine then leave it alone. If they release a new version that has some added feature you would like then its ok to update it then also, just remember what version you were running so you can revert back to it in case the new one does not work well.

As Birddog said, a BIOS update is to be done only when the newest version addresses some problems you're experiencing or you need to support new hardware that wasn't currently supported at the time the mobo was made. I wish people stopped thinking that updates are necessary for everything and have to be installed as soon as they're released. If your system is working fine now, leave it alone. If you improperly flash the BIOS you can end up with a dead motherboard. |

You need to read your manual on clearing the CMOS (BIOS). I hope you are looking at the right BIOS update because there are more than one listed for the board listed in your signature (P8Z68-V-PRO). I would not update anything until you reset the BIOS and re-seat the memory. If that works, and your electrical problem is fixed then yur good to go. In the event you need to flash the BIOS, follow the directions in your manual (EZFlash). What version is your BIOS currently? Additionally, it is good to read the various BIOS releases to see if it describes the problem you are encountering.

Well the reason why was asking about updating the bios is because the newer ones were addressing some problems which I may have been experiencing but may not have realized which leave me in a doubt position. My electrical problem was already resolved the computer was booting fine now and not rebooting twice like before. Now yesterday I noticed is not booting at all now. I am getting this message shown in the picture attached. Sometimes it lets me get in to the BIOS but now is not letting me in the same window just stays there. The DEL doesn't seem to do what is asking me to do.
Keep in mind I didn't mess with the BIOS at all I just simply downloaded the file but didn't proceed to install them with a flash drive because I don't have one. I was letting the Asus site detect my mobo so it can guide me to the right bios update I know theres a whole bunch of different versions. I unplug my PC removed the battery and cleared the CMOS for a minute and place the battery back in and plug her again and the same window is poping up im not hearing a beep either so is not booting. My bios version currently is 0501 x64 the information also is shown in the pictures I attached in a post back. Any idea what the hell is going on with my PC

I think it's time to ring up Asus' customer support. You might have to RMA the board.

Wouldn't it be less hassle to take it back to micro center where I got it and get another one? Or I have to ring up Asus cust serv first regardless where i got it from.

If Microcenter will exchange it, that's the easiest way.
