What is a good monitor

Looking to buy a 23"monitor to go with my setup (sig). What would be a good buy? I have a Viewsonic 19" that is 6yrs old, it has served my well, but is now time to get a new one.. I here Led is better than lcd, so I would like one with good picture quality, and has a good reputation for quality. Looking to spent no more than $200..

Also what is a good TV to buy. Wife once one in the range of 42" with a price of no more than $600..

Went and purchased the TV tonight. I've decided to not pursue the monitor at this time. The Tv was $648+tax and the 3yr warranty it cost sub $808. After my daughters discount the final cost was $742. Now after I put the stand together I will finally set up the TV and finally ditch the 32inch big O TV I have had for yrs..

HDMI is better if you have a HDMI output on the PC.

ahh...excellant.....

On my newer PC I have an HDMI output but if I can't hook it up to my PC because all my HDMI ports are used. Unless of course I get an HDMI switch!

That reminds me! glc, if I were to upgrade my Dell Dimesnion 3000 with a video card similiar to this one would it be worth the money or just a waste?

You can't. A Dimension 3000 doesn't have any PCI-E slots. It doesn't even have AGP, just legacy PCI. A Dimension 3000 is not worth doing ANY upgrades on, if it's no longer doing the job, retire it.

oh it still works. I am just perplexed because of the following specs....

Computer:

Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
2.79 GHz, 512 MB of RAM

That is from the System Properties under GENERAL. I think the latest is the P4 so although this system isn't under 2 I thought it was still a good piece of machine.

The 512 I plan to upgrade to 2GB.

A P4 is not the latest processor. Depending on which P4 it is, it is AT LEAST four generations old now. Nothing in that computer would be upgradable with modern parts. All of the internal connectors are legacy at this point, and would not be worth upgrading sorry to say. Even if that system is the last P4, upgrading isn't going to be worthwhile because everything you would have to buy would be nonstandard now.

Major Intel upgrades since the Pentium 4: P4 > Core > Core2 > Core i

And that is not counting the variants of each major upgrade, of which there is 3 or 4 per generation.

Ok so I have decided to my a monitor after all.. This is the one from Fry's I purchased yesterday.. I went with the none speaker model, as I have a 5:1 surround system already. I did not want to wait and have one shipped so I figured this one would be just as good.
