Help with my monitor?

Several times while I was using my computer the monitor started displaying a bunch of different color, flashing rectangles. I turned the computer of and rebooted and the computer continued working. Now I turned it on and it just goes right to displaying those flashing little rectangles. I was thinking maybe my video card is shot. Can some one give advice?

The most likely culprits are the video card, monitor cable, or monitor. Are you getting any beep codes from the computer? The first thing I would try is a different cable, or if you have one handy, a different monitor. With a problem like this, basic troubleshooting is your best bet. Good news is that if you video card was seriously dieing, it's a good chance you'd be having more serious display problems. So it might be the cable or monitor, which are easier and chaper to replace.

If you have a plug-in card, open the PC and check the fan to see if it is running or full of dust.

Try the monitor on a different computer and/or try a different monitor on your computer.
