Laptop Cooling Fan Replacement

I've never had one of these apart so I'm clueless.
Item is compaq cq62 which needs a new cooling fan as the old one is noisy.
Service Manual is here.
Go to Removal and replacement procedures->Fan/heat sink assembly and scroll down a bit from there (page 82) for a pic of the item that needs replacing.

My questions: How is that actual fan attached to the heat sink assembly?
Can I just replace the fan or does the whole assembly have to be replaced?

I have a few similar items from other laptops and some you have to replace the whole assembly and fan and some the fan comes off and a new one attaches easily.
Thanks!
