How can I do that ? Will not boot even in safe mode. I suspected a bad HD sector.

I do not have the USB cable to hook it up with my PC

Download the diagnostics that run from a bootdisk, not the Windows version.

If you have the UBCD, then set the bios to boot from CD first, boot it, and find the appropriate diagnostic.

Might want to run ram diagnostics while you are in there.

Is this a laptop or desktop? Model, please.

Are you sure you made the UBCD correctly? Will it boot in a different computer?

If you can't get the computer to boot from the HDD or a USB thumb drive then you might want to remove the HDD from the computer and attach it to another computer for the purpose of running the diagnostics against it.

Any programs that I could install on the pen drive that would check the disc? The way it is acting think I have a bad sector.

You are running out of options. You need to do whatever you can to run diagnostics on that hard drive, and the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics are what you want to use.
