When I boot up my Win2000 PC, I get an error that says
"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" What is going on? I've tried writing a new MBR to the disk, and it still says this! This just happened today! I booted up Ultimate Boot CD and then booted Parted Magic from there and when I opened the "Disk Health" icon and click on the disk, it says "Pre-failure" in some spots, but the "Disk health" has "PASSED". Any ideas as to what is going on?

Run manufacturer's diagnostics on the drive. I'd bet it's failing.

This.
If it passes the diagnostics I would run a chkdsk /r on the drive.

Everything's working now. I guess it only had to do with Win2000. I put Haiku R1 Alpha 3 on there and it works fine! No problems now!
