HI all,
quick question. What purpose those GBs serve in videocards? Why one with 2GB is better than 1GB (besides that it's obvious ). Exmple: EVGA 02G-P3-1568-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Newegg.com - EVGA 02G-P3-1568-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card and EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Thank you |

The GPU memory serves the same purpose as the RAM on computers. The work of the memory is to keep the data to be processed by the GPU as per the instructions received from the CPU. The memory is also used for the acceleration of polygon rendering, geometric calculations, texture mapping, interpolation, antialiasing and managing color spaces to name a few.
