Hard drive Help
I just installed a new Seagate momentus
500gb 7200rpm sata3 hdd, replacing a hitachi 320gb that went bad. I have a HP g62 notebook. I put in the first recovery disk and 3hrs later I'm still 21% reformatting Windows partition. Is this normal? Any suggestions would be greatly Appreciated. Thx |

It can be - a full format on a 500gb drive can take quite a while.
If it obviously gets stuck or errors out, run diagnostics on the drive. I believe HP has bios-based diagnostics, or you can download SeaTools and burn a bootable CD. |
