I am looking forward to haswell so much that I bought a 3570k and z77LK board yesterday. I don't see haswell making to big of a splash, it will be a small improvement for guys needing the very fastest possible, however I don't expect it to make much if any difference in day to day computing or gaming.

If I remember correctly a tick is a architecture change and a tock is a refinement of that architecture. So this would be a tick, however processors are so dang fast these days that I don't see a huge jump in performance happening all at once just from a die shrink.

I dont think Intel is going to be in any real hurry to rush any new innovation to market with AMD not competing against them in the Enthusiast CPU markets...

I'm not sure which is which either. My guess is that a tock is louder than a tick. Louder meaning a more significant jump in technology. Who knows.
