The first thing you have to do is unplug it, remove the battery, and thoroughly dry it out.

Putting a Japanese computer in a bag of rice is stereotyping it don't you think?

They are very serious. Rice does a very good job of absorbing the moisture to help dry every little crevice in your device.

Rice brings the air inside the bag down to near zero humidity which maximizes the rate of evaporation. You also want to place the bag in a warm place, which also maximizes evaporation.

I tried the bag of rice for 4 days and I still get the keyboard error message and can't go any further because of no keyboard. Should I try it for a longer period of time?

You could try an external keyboard.

Take it apart and spray it with electronics cleaner, which gets rid of moisture as well. If that does not work then it may be time to replace the keyboard.
