looking for board repair companies

this is probably the wrong for section. please move it to the right one.

I'm am looking for someone who can repair a Thinkpad Edge e420 motherboard. It could also be the dc-in board, I'm not sure. If any of you old times here do board repairs, please speak up or recommend a good company. I am in the Brooklyn, NY, so the closer the better.

Thanks a lot

What is the problem? Is it not under warranty? If I recall correctly, the DC Jack is a replaceable part that is not soldered on the board. I will have to double check but I can't do it today as I am on the road. They are easy to replace and the hardware maintenance manual gives you step by step instructions.

You might also consider people who have parted out a Thinkpad Edge e420 on Ebay or who are selling the whole thing, but with a dead monitor for example.

the dc-in board costs 80 dollars. i don't want to get it and then be stuck with it, if it's not that but the motherboard. you guys don't know a solid company that does board repair? i don't trust most of them because the misdiagnosis rate is abominable.

Well, you still have not told me the problem.

If it is in fact the DC board, they are easy to replace. $35.00 part as well.
Aliexpress.com : Buy New originalI Lenovo E420 E425 E520 DC in sub Jack LAN board card 04W1867 04W2083 from Reliable 04W2083 suppliers on jixing guo's store

Download the hardware maintenance manual for step by step diss-assembly instructions.

Keep in mind you can purchase a used Edge e420 in working condition for $300, so I would not spend much getting it repaired.

I looked on Ebay and did not see any motherboards selling at a cost effective price. Just one at $260.

It's kind of hard to help someone when they do not give you answers to the questions you ask. I wanted him to answer those specific questions about the nature of the issue or problem and warranty status. I could have helped him out because I know people at Lenovo, too late now because they have been following this thread and have backed off because he did not co-operate. They more than likely would have taken care of it for him for nothing.

Some guy in a boating forum where I mod is asking me questions about how to wire a DC lighting circuit on a boat. I answer all his questions. I then ask him questions to clarify a few things which he won't answer but instead comes back with more questions. Maybe my signature needs to say: "Answer the damn questions first!"

I'm sorry if I didn't answer any questions you had. It's definitely a motherboard issue. There is no power at all. I swapped the motherboard with another one and it works. The problem is that the other one is my personal computer. I was hoping someone could have taken a look at it, because many times no power is an easy fix like changing a diode on MOSFET. please ask any questions if you have any.

Unless the problem is something as simple as a diode, MOSFET, large capacitor, or obvious bad connection, board repair is usually not economical, and I wouldn't trust the vast majority of computer shops for this.
