Fan Rattling

I recently purchased an Antec 1100 case and the top 200mm rattles and thus quite loud, to the point I had to unplug it form the power.

Any suggestions on what i could do to fix it? I submitted a ticket to antec but I'm not really expecting much.

What I do is unscrew the fan from case but leave it plugged in. Even if have to hold it, turn on PC and see if still rattles (bearings or blades unbalanced). If ok and original screws were tight I'd use 4 flat rubber washers like in a plumber's kit from local hardware store or home center. Pretty basic stuff. Good luck. Btw, if you google "antec 1100 fan noise", there is some info to ponder and consider.

Given it is still under warranty wait for Antec send you a replacement. There is no practical fix for it since fans are so relatively cheap making them disposable items when they don't work. There really isn't any fixing of the bearing, balancing the blades or replacement of the motor.

If you place your hands flat down on the metal of the case around the fan does the noise disappear or dissipate in any way?

If i place my hand down on the case the rattle does dissipate.

I took the fan out of the case, it still rattles.
If i turn it over and use it as an intake fan there is no rattle.

Still waiting to hear something from antec.

That to me sounds like the fan blades are out of balance and the case is suffering a little "panel boom" as we call it over here, the steel of the case is vibrating and making the noise worse. I would wait for Antec and if you get no joy from them just buy a better quality fan to replace it with.
