Iomega External HD

I just got an another ex. HD, only HD's for sale in town.
Just wondering what you guys thought about it as far as reliability, etc...
The guy I bought it from, said that they were high quality.
This HD will just be used as a backup of a backup.

Re-manufactured by Iomega, new in package
1 TB
Model 31958100
Paid $120 (Price in line, considering where I live)

Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure what brand of drives they stick in their housing, but I had one at work that failed twice within its first few first few months of service. I wouldn't recommend iomega.

Second, that's overpriced, especially for a refurb drive.

Go with western digital if you don't want to assemble your own, such as:

WD My Passport 1TB USB 3.0 Black Portable Hard Drive WDBBEP0010BBK-NESN - Newegg.com
WD My Passport 1.5TB USB 3.0 Black Portable Hard Drive WDBY8L0015BBK-NESN - Newegg.com
Western Digital My Book Essential 2TB Desktop External Hard Drive - Newegg.com

Or if you do want to assemble your own (I listed a few different options):
Rosewill RX-358 V2 SLV (Silver) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure w/Int.80mm Fan - Newegg.com
Rosewill RX-358 U3C SLV Silver External Enclosure - Newegg.com
Western Digital WD Green WD20EZRX Internal Hard Drive - Newegg.com
Western Digital WD Green WD10EZRX 1TB IntelliPower SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - Newegg.com
Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - Newegg.com

No way to know without knowing what brand and model the actual drive inside the housing is. However, being "remanufactured" is a bit questionable.

Is there a better way to get more detailed info?

Edit:
Some other info I dug up about Iomega,

Quote:
On April 8, 2008, EMC Corporation announced its plans to acquire Iomega for a consideration of US $213M.[5] The acquisition was completed in June 2008,[6] making Iomega the SOHO/SMB arm of the world’s largest storage company.
