No input to Monitor
 

I have a Gateway FX 6850-51u Desktop. It's almost 2 years old. Recently I took it on a trip in my RV. When I got to my destination I hooked everything up and when I turned on the PC, I got a no input display on the monitor. I checked inside the case and everything was running. I bought a new DVI cable and everything worked perfect. I did the same routine on my trip home. Got home, hooked the Monitor to the PC and got the same message, no input to monitor.
I've checked everything I know to check. I even bought a new video card and tried a HDMI cable, another monitor, still no input to monitor. I thought maybe the PCIe slot has gone bad, but the cooling fan is running on the video card. any ideas? Thanks!

Have you tried removing the video card and using the onboard video?

I haven't thought of that. I guess I'm getting old. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it today and let you know how it turns out.

removed the video card and plugged into the onboard video slot, still no input to monitor. It's an Acer MB. Only has one pcie slot. I appreciate the help guy's.

I want to thank glc for your help and let you know how weird this computer problem is. I did everything I knew to do, plus what you suggested.

It sat unconnected until yesterday. I was getting ready to take it into a local service ctr. I decided to hook a Monitor to it and try booting one last time before taking it in. Low and behold it booted right up. Everything is fine! Crazy stuff man!

Nothing will make the human brain more crazed than an intermittent problem. I would rather see everything melt before I have to solve an intermittent problem. At least when it has melted, burned up, blown up or is broken in half, you know what the problem is and how to fix it.

Absolutely David, I hate trouble shooting a problem like this. Maybe I got lucky and fixed the problem without knowing it. Sounds as if you have a nice setup.
