Which card?

I am trying to decide between these two cards. There is a $20 dollar difference which is insignificant compared to the price. Both have a 3 year parts and labor warranty. Is one brand slightly more reliable than the other? Does it come down to who has the better customer service? Which of these would you choose and why?

EVGA 04G-P4-2690-KR GeForce GTX 690 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com

ASUS GTX690-4GD5 GeForce GTX 690 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com

I was looking at the Titan but it is more expensive on Amazon and the same price on Newegg but out of stock. It is also about 20% slower than the 690.

Identical specs, and those are the 2 best Nvidia brands.

If you think you will use the card longer than 3 years, EVGA offers an extended warranty.

It boggles my mind that someone would consider dropping $1000 on a video card.

Not judging, but I could never justify spending that much money on a video card. The law of diminishing returns would convince me otherwise.

I'm not a gamer, but even if I was, I just couldn't do it.

According to this Newegg comparision page, the EVGA's "SLI Support" is "Quad SLI" compared to the ASUS "SLI Ready", and its "Effective Memory Clock" is "6008MHz" compared to the ASUS "3004MHz".

It is incredible what the difference is between a 350.00 card vs. 1000.00 one, in an identical game. It's like a different game. Crazy.

Exactly jdeb, especially when you can crank up all the settings on three monitors. You get totally absorbed into the game. I understand how this might be difficult for some people to believe unless you have actually played on a high end multiple monitor computer.

Brace yourself Strollin, I am buying two of those cards. The two 6990's I have now I can sell for around 450 to 500 each. This cuts the actual cost in about half.

I have seen people spend a lot more on other hobbies, like cars, airplanes and golf. By comparison, high end gaming computers are one of the less expensive hobbies. Not to worry, I still have a life doing plenty of other healthy things. Life is all about everything in moderation, including how much time you spend on the computer.

That's very true. We all spend our money the way we want to. I have lots more money invested in my RV than I do in my computer, especially when you add in the diesel pickup I have to tow it with!

I am glad I don't game but it still is cool to watch the neighbor kid test them out. He was darn near knocking on my door before I hung up on the last one.

Those memory clocks are effectively the same - one is defining it as SDR and the other as DDR.
