Screen resolution not supported

Hello

My old xp sp3 desktop has a samsung HD ready Tv/monitor and a NVIDIA Ge Force 7600 GS.

After installing a NVIDIA update (which came with other xp updates ) when booting i get a black screen and a message "Resolution not supported by screen , change resolution" . This is a message from the Monitor , not the xp .

I boot in safe mode and i do get windows desktop on my screen but cannot change the resolution which is stuck in 1280 X 1024

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Delete the drivers then use Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
after its finished then re download the drivers and try again.

Instead of starting it in safe mode, start it in VGA mode and uninstall the update. NEVER accept hardware updates from Windows Update. VGA mode should also allow you to change the resolution and refresh rate.
