Boom AGP Aperture 64MB-128MB

If I set my AGP Aperture to 128MB, I get awesome game play and great benchmarks. However, I ALSO get frequent and random lock up....my system just freezes up.

If I set it to 64MB, the lock ups stop and everything is fine....except for the video gaming and the benchmarks - unacceptable FPS and low 3dMark2001 scores.

HELP!!!

Are there some other Bios settings that need to be adjusted to let me keep it at 128MB?

Have You had this issue?

Thanks in advance!

The way I understand it is that this setting is supposed to match your video card paramiters.

Cool

From what I understand, you can adjust it to half of your total memory. Mine is set @256

Ok I stand somewhat corrected.
This setting controls just how much system ram
can be allowcated to AGP for video purposes.
Some say more is beeter but 64mb should be good enough.
You should check your system manual for higher settings.

Cool

Hi, thanks for your replies.

I understand that this is the amount being allocated from the system memory for video card usage (textures and stuff). The Channels/Articles/help section of PCMech even states that the AGP Aperture Size "controls just how much system RAM can be allocated to AGP for video purposes. Some say that the more the better, but in reality, a setting of 64 MB should be fine for anyone unless your manual says more."

My system manual states to adjust to taste.

But my question is DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT, IF ANY, OTHER SETTING NEED TO BE ADJUSTED ALSO?

Thanks,

Outside of Video Rom and Adapter Rom being disabled not me.
If you want better performance from this system
go with a video card that employs DDR ram since this will
match the memory bandwidth of your system.
