HDD controller failure

Question is it possible when you receive a HDD controller failure that it is the HD and not the controller card? It's an old 486 DX2 66 and I replaced the controller card already.

Thanks

Yes it is possible!!! Find out the brand of your HDD and go to their website. In most cases most HDD manufacturers offer free diagnostic tools.
