Question

How does one go about adding a loose small fan to the heat sink of a Voodoo3 card? I just need to know how to make it stay on the heat sink. I heard a story of someone using school glue to attach it with disasterous consequences resulting in the loss of 1 PCI port! (hehehe)
Any tips (other than school glue) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A "486 fan" has it's screw holes in the same place as the mounting pins for the heatsink. If you can get ahold of a fan with the screw holes in the same place, it's very easy. All I did was take the pins out. I got some screws of adequate length to go through the fan, heatsink, and come out the other side of the baord. Make sure to get some rubber washers to go between the nut and the board. The hardware store had the perfect screws, I had to look for a little bit though. Make sure your screws are not so long that they run into something else on the board, such as the processor. The ones I found just barely touched the mounting bracket for my Athlon. I cut them down just enough to avoid this. I've seen other people use super glue, but I believe this voids the warranty. Using screws interestingly enough, doesn't. Oh well.

Well, I'm off to go look for myself. If I should get back before I return, tell myself to wait for me.

Cool

Check this site out... it's got pics too! http://www.tennmax.com/voodoo3/stealth_v3.htm
Do a search in page for "heatsink removal".
Enjoy.
