I have purchased a mobile printer, a Canon BJ-10ex, for a huge price of $2.00. This printer had a power supply and that was it. I have a laptop and thought that it would be better than lugging around a full size printer.
Anyways, this printer will print great in dos, such as typing in "dir > lpt1", so the printer works!! Now, I start up windows 98, and find the Canon BJ-10ex printer driver, and it will not print. The printer will initialize and then stop. Sooner or later, the error window comes up saying to make sure that the printer is powered on and online. It is. I have tried all the Canon printer drivers that I could find, and a few "tried and true" generic printer drivers. I have also changed the printer port from an ECP port to a plain printer port. All to no avail. The thing prints in dos but not in Windows. Please Help...

Hi herc222,
You said you tried other Canon printer drivers but have you tried any drivers that the printer can emualte? Why I ask is this--I have a Canon LBP-4sx laser printer that would not print with the driver made for it (at the time it was in Windows 3.1). I had to use the driver for the Hewlett-Packard Laser Jet III. It worked fine from that point on. I couldn't find much info on what it emulates other than Canon BJ130e, Canon BJ10, and IBM Proprinter 24. If you got any documentation with the printer it should say what other printers it emulates. Hope this helps and good luck.
