hard drive detection

i have a 1gb hard drive as a slave to a 300mb hard drive running win95, bios detects both and states their correct size. I am aware that there is a lost cluster or bad sector on the 1 gb hard drive but plan to correct it later. Bios detects the 1 gb hard drive and the 300mb but win95 only detects the 300mb hard drive despite having two hard drive controllers in the device manager, it just won;t assign the drive a letter there is a cd drive running on an ide cable attatched to the sounds card and so in theory that should leave room for the second hard drive to be a slave from the ide cable on the motherboard any help would be appriciated e-mail me at markwombat@yahoo.com thanks
