Question NEC Start up disk ??

NEC Ready 9520 on start up loads bios checks memory then i get an error "drive not ready insert boot disk in drive a: " do i need a special disk my windows 98 startup disk will not work i know the disk is good it works in my new pc

Is this a new problem? Do you have an OS installed on that drive that is now inaccesible or is the hard drive empty?

well i just got this pc from a friend and it was working before he removed the hard drive the drive that i installed has win95 installed on it the drive works in a nother pc that i have but not in this NEC i also removed the hard drive and restarted got the same problem and the floppy also works on the other pc could the board be gone?

See if the harddrive is detected during boot up.

does not detect hard drives. replaced ribbons hard drives incorrect format. reformatted is now working thank you
