My 1.2GHz Athlon shows as 900MHz
I removed my 1.2GHz 200FSB and replaced it with 1.2GHz 266FSB, but for some reason it's only clocking at 900MHz. Anyone know how to fix this? I have an Asus A7V-133 motherboard. Thanks.

You go the board running at 100MHZ (9 x 100 = 900) You need to have it running at 133mhz (9 x 133 = 1197 or 1.2MHZ)

what is hapening is that you havent changed your frontside buss to 133 from 100.
I dont know if your board uses bios or jumper to change. also you need to have a kt133a chipset or you will have trouble with your pci cards as I think the kt133 had a 1/3 buss setup 133/3=44 100/3=33 PS want to sell the 1.2@200 cpu? no_nota, you said:
"I dont know if your board uses bios or jumper to change" How do I know, and how do I do it? I've tried looking in my mobo manual but I can't find anything. Also, you said: "I think the kt133 had a 1/3 buss setup 133/3=44 100/3=33" What the hell does that mean? Lastly, sorry, but the 1.2 at 200 FSB is broken. You can still buy it if you want, though

Thanks for the link, but I'm still confused. Which part, exactly, do I need to do? Could you break it down? It's just that I'm really scared that I'm gonna screw something up big time. Thanks!

You need to look in the manual and see which way is on and off and set your switches. Looking at link, I think the DSW is Off, Off, ON, Off, Off for 133 or all Off for default. You really need to check your manual (chapter 3, pages 18 and 19). Setting all off allows for auto detection and setup in BIOS.

There are 3 different diagrams for things to adjust (DSW, DSFID, and VID1,2,3,4). Do I need to adjust all of them? If so, how do I adjust the 3rd one (voltage VID thing) Here's what I'm clear on so far:
DSW: Off Off On Off Off DSFID: On On Off Off On On VID: ??? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

If you're manually setting the jumpers, look for the sttings for 1.7 or 1.75 volts.(vid settings)
If you're leaving the jumpers set for auto-select,just check the manual for the placement for the jumpers. There should be a single jumper for 100mhzfsb,or 133mhzfsb. Is there or do you have to change a few dipswitches? |
