Boot Disk Help!!!
For a class I have, I need to fill in the following. Please let me know if you know the answers to any of these by giving me the number of the blank space and the answer:
After conducting a _1._____ check of all the hardware components of a PC, the boot program contained on the computers _2._____ chips checks drive A or C or on newer computers the _3._____, depending on the _4._____ setting, to see if it contains the needed system files. These two files are _5._____ and _6._____ -- you wont see these files because they are marked with a "hidden" attribute. If the boot program located on the _7._____ does not find the needed files it generates the error message "non-system disk error" or "no system disk found." After locating a disk with system files the _8._____ boot program reads the data stored on the disks first sector and copies that data to specific locations in _9._____. This information consitutes the DOS boot record. The _10._____ is found on the same locations on every formatted diskette. After the _11._____ boot program passes control to the DOS boot record the DOS boot record takes control of the PC and loads IO.SYS into RAM. The _12._____ file contains extensions to the _13._____ and includes a routine called _14._____ that manages the rest of the boot up. _15._____ assumes control of the startup process and loads _16._____ into _17._____. The _18._____ file works with the _19.______ to manage files, execute programs, and respond to signals from hardware. _20._____ searches the root directory of the boot disk for a file named _21._____. If _22._____ exists, _23._____ tells _24._____ to execute the commands in the file. _25._____ commands tell the OS how to handle certain operations, such as how many files may be opened at one time; it may also contain instructions to load device drivers. _26._____ tells _27._____ to load the file _28._____. This operating system file consists of three parts. One is a further extension to the Input/Output functions. The second part contains internal DOS commands such as DIR, COPY, and TYPE. The third part is used once and then discarded from RAM. This part searches the root directory for a file named _29._____. The PC is now fully booted and ready to use. ====================================== Please help me with this. Any help, even with one or two from you will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
