Logitech cordless mouseman optical jumpy
I thought that the Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical would be precise and solid as a rock like the Logitech Cordless Mouseman I have. Not so. The pointer jumps and jerks as I move the mouse along. I tried it on an oak desktop but the grain in the wood makes it jump. I tried a Dell mousepad but as it goes across the Dell logo, the pointer takes off on a tangent. What kind of surface can I use to quiet this thing down? I've tried both the USB and PS2 ports but that didn't make any difference. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks, Bill |

Hi wazzat,
Have you tried putting it on something that is just one solid color (no logos, no grain patterns in the wood)? Maybe just a plain, one color mouse pad? Hope this doesn't sound condescending or stupid 'cause I'm not trying to insult you.

That doesn't sound right. It shouldn't jump around like that. I have an optical mouse and it runs smooth on just about everything except for shiny solid color surfaces where it doesn't move at all. So, I would try a solid color surface like juppy said, but it still doesn't sound right. Maybe there is something wrong with the mouse? I dunno...

Thanks
Thanks guys. Hey Juppy, you're not insulting me, I'm happy to hear what you have to say. I'll try the solid color surface but I really expected this mouse to be more stable. I've had very good luck with Logitech ao I hate to return it. I don't want to keep using a darn mousepad so I'll look for something else suitable.
Thanks again, Bill |

Solution
I bought a 19 X 24 inch Visulin desktop pad from Office Max that works fine. It has a solid brown non-glare plastic surface and a non-skid backing. Its made like a big mouse pad which is just what I needed. Now I've got a smooth-running optical mouse. The guy at Office Max didn't think the wood grain in my oak desk top would confuse the optical mouse but it did. Problem solved.
I'm glad the Canadian skaters got their gold medals. Good kids...we love them, and they deserved it. Bill |
