Processor clock speed information

Hi All,

Please could you let me know if it is possible to find out the processor clock speed of a computer using Windows 98/2000? I need to check the clock speed of processors installed on a large number of machines. These machines are in use most of the time and I would like to obtain this information without any unnecessary delays. The only way that I am currently aware of getting this information is by rebooting the machine so that you can see the information flashed on the screen during boot-up. Any help in this regard would be helpful. Thanks.

The processor speed is hidden away in:

start menu -> programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system info

and it's in the "system summary" bit of the tree.

Hi davefea,

I know what you mean...I don't know why MS makes it so hard to find out the speed of the CPU through Windows. Anyway, you might want to try this little utility (still a slight hassle, but it works pretty good): WCPUID

If I remember correctly (haven't used it in awhile), it's a self contained executable (doesn't install files into Windows system). Just stick the file in a temp folder and double click it. Gives you a bunch of information about the system.
