I'm late as usual, but......
This has been and continues to be one of the best forums I have encountered on the net! The moderators step in & take control if things do get out of hand & I commend them on that! This is the best place to get help or just to vent! Keep up the good work all! |

I'm sure I'm saying nothing new here, but this is easily the best forum on the subject that I've found.
I've been using 2 other forums (traitor!). I found that the first one has the general maturity level of a small shrub, whilst at the second one I've yet to see much constructive comment, and one member got particularly upset with me for titling my PC-Build Project "Codename: OMGWTF". (It's an acronym! Just pretend it means Oh My Gosh What The Flippin'eck if it bothers you! )At PC Mech, however, peeps seem to be only too willing to help, and even muppets like myself get included! Even those who have posted abuse seem to get gently told that their attitude isn't acceptable before the Mods get called in. Once again, thanks to all here. I've got almost all my parts now (waiting for PSU & HSFC), and feel confident that if & when I hit a snag in building, the PC Mech bunch will be there to help me out. Hopefully, I have been able to assist in my little way now and again, and will continue to do so as I progress up the learning curve. Cheers, Corax. |

learning curve - STEEP
yep, this site was recommended to me by someone that i am sure is tired of me asking questions of him all the time.
so far, i have posted oncew and got three replies within 5 minutes. that, to me, is very helpful and doesn't make me feel retarded at all (even though i am whe it comes to this)! thanks much! please continue to be nice to the slow people! (just cause one has a physics degree, one is not necessarily a genius)

I can't even remember how I found out about PC MECH. Probably a search when I was considering building my first pc. I got all psyched up when I read the Maximum PC edition where they build the fastest and goodest pc there is. They do it each year. Well, just thought I could do one too, so I came here and got all the help one could want. I've since built four more and thinking about building myself another one. I've used the brains of folks here many, many times and most always can cure any ill I run into. I've recommended this site to all my friends for help with their questions. Because I come here often, and get into pc discussions at work, people come up to me now and say stuff like "you're into computers ain't ya?", or "you know alot about computers don't ya?", but I don't and always tell them, no, I just read alot. It is satisfying to be able to help someone, even if it's just looking for some item they can't find. Keep up the good work PC Mech!

Hmmmm, not a lot of answeres for some questions???
Perhaps, not a lot of people know the answer to some specific questions. I tend to feel that if I don't get and answer to a question, its because no one knows. Well, anyway that is what I chalk it up to. Although, cant remember ever not getting at least one answer. Only been here a few months and have gleaned a wealth of info from reading the various posts here and also getting answers to my questions. Really great forum. All of you should be very proud of yourselves. The greatest thrill for me and I know for the rest of you, is when you are able to answer a question sucessfully for someone else. Boy that really makes me feel good to give back some of what is given. Regards to all...........and THANKS..................Sterling ![]() Welcom questor10 to PCmech

I've found the majority of troubleshooting is repetive, the following Guide helps narrow down you specific problem and troubleshoots the most common causes of system problems:
Diagnose XP - A Windows XP Diagnostic Guide "The following guide will help you troubleshoot the most common causes of system problems. Diagnosing System problems can be very complicated and time consuming. There are no simple solutions. Windows XP systems should never Lock-up (freeze), display Blue Screen Stop Errors or Randomly Reboot. These are all warning signs something is wrong or misconfigured with your system." This will help the experts here more quickly determine the root cause of your problem. Last edited by Statica; 07-16-2005 at 04:56 PM. Reason: Spam Link removed |
