I apologize in advance for the long post.
When playing windows solitare, I know it is a pretty lame game, but after winning the game and the cards start to do their thing on the screen, the computer locks up everytime after winning at solitare. If I try and run the windows "Underwater" screen saver, after 30 minutes or longer, the computer locks up. The computer will not respond to ctrl-alt-del, or reset. I must power off the computer and power it back on. I have tried turning off the graphics hardware acceleration on the performance tab, but the computer still locks up. In the AMI BIOS I have the AGP aperture set to 64Mb. All DirectX test pass with no problems. Here are some more hardware/software details. I have an AGP Diamond Viper V330 with nVida RIVA 128 controller, 4MB SGRAM, BIOS version 1.62 and Display Driver version 4.10.01.0279. Share Resources IRQ 9 Creative SB Live! Try getting rid of the screen saver?
They use up mem and resources such as clock cycles counting how long since you last typed or moved the mouse. |
