HD Problem

Hi,

I finally assembled my old crap PC! It's an old Pentium 166 downclocked to 133 'cause the mobo don't support higher than that ( I fried the mobo that had the 166 before ). Ok, now my problem is:

I booted and it POST and it was fine. It gave me HD errors cuz of the OS I think. It was saying please insert the SETUP disk in drive A or something like that. Just said to myself I'll format the 2 drives, then delete the partitions, and reformat, and I'll install win98SE.

BUT, after I did the partition using FDISK, the 2 HD were 550mo each... my master should be 2.11gig and my slave should be 1gig. I'm not using the IDE channels, they are burnt! I'm using another HD controler card. And my CD is plugged in my sound card ( Creative one ). So, how the **** fdisk only did FAT16 550mo partitions?! and dumb like I am I didn't thought that, with the win98 boot disk, the cdrom CAN'T be installed, I need to have a line in the autoexec.bat I think (my old cdrom is not atapi, so drivers on the 98 boot disk do nothing)..... don't have it, OS not installed... like to find who came first, the egg or the chicken? Someone have older drivers to install my cdrom to install win98? Someone help please!!

Thanks !!

Hi Dim3x,

Try one of these boot disks, the TechW0rm one has a universal IDE CD-ROM driver that should work.

I tried to use AEFDISK but it says Error reading from disk A. Still, can't access my HDs with this disk, and not even my cdrom!

Someone know first how to put my partition like they should be? ( I got 550mo/550mo and it should be 2.11gig/1.0gig ) Then, someone got drivers that works for a Creative 4X IDE CD-ROM ?? Thanks!
