Can't uninstall Scanner drivers
Have a customer using an Acer scanner which won't run under W2K despite downloading/installing the latest drivers 4.03 from the Acer website.
The problem appears to be that the previous drivers (3.20) have been corrupted & the uninstall program won't completely remove them. I say this because I have installed the same drivers (4.03) on my laptop under W2K with his scanner & everything works fine. Acer won't respond to my e-mail request, so my question is how to delete manually all the registry(?) entries of ver. 3.20 so that we can do a clean install of the latest 4.03 drivers?

Uninstall the software.
Do a search for twain and delete any you find in the Windows folder – there should be several left. Do a search for twunk and delete any in the Windows folder. Do a search for MiraScan and Acer and delete all. Install the new software. If you are still having problems delete everything again and do a search for Acer and MiraScan in the registry and delete anything you find. The problem is often the twain files which don’t normally get removed when you uninstall the software. |
