not a dream machine
good evening , i wopuld like to build my own pc as the last 2 were rely bummers 1st was a cyrix m11 200 win 95 the next was a celeron 500 both just flat sucked i like to surf and have a large group of ham groups want to do dvd as i want a digital camera to keep up with my grand kids, need basic printing and word prosseing, been checking parts out but just to damd many would like to keep it around 1500.00 what would you sugest thanks alot amtrac

Hi 1a44, welcome to the PC Mech forums!

Here are my recommendations for components:
  • EPoX 8KHA+ motherboard
  • Crucial 256 PC2100 DDR memory
  • AMD Athlon or Athlon XP processor 1GHz+ (speed is your choice)
  • Maxtor or Western Digital 40GB+ ATA100 7200RPM hard drive
  • ATI XPERT 2000 32MB video card (great for DVD playback)
  • Enlight 7237 case w/300W power supply
  • Pioneer 16X DVD drive
  • Lite-On 24x10x40 CD-writer
  • Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card (better quality than onboard sound for DVDs)
  • Sony 1.4MB 3.5" floppy drive
Fast and stable system, shouldn't have any speed problems any more. All parts taken from NewEgg.
