some mb have pins (3) for adding fans that can be monitored rpm, if yours don't then you must connect to one of the drive power connectors, if you don't have enough ,you can use a y adapter and split them, fand will have one of the two type connector on them, mb or power.

Im guessing that each of the two connectors are 4-pin Molex connectors. If thats the case (if they have 4 pins) then just connect which everone fits to a 4-pin comming off the powersupply. The other connector is simply there so that the fan doesn't take up the connector comming off the power supply all by itself so you could still connect another fan or hard drive or something to it.

The front fan, at the bottom, should bring air into the case. It's an intake fan. The fan up high on the back acts as an exhaust fan. You should read your motherboard manual to see if you can connect one or both of your fans to the mobo. If you can, do so. If not, you use two of the small power supply connectors.
You can tell which way the air is going to blow by looking at the fan. On the side of the fan there is a small arrowhead. It aims the way the air is going to blow. Again, read your manual. Follow the directions carefully. Some boards only let you connect one fan to the board and the other is connected directly to the power supply. This might even be the case if there are two or more power connections on the board, so read carefully. Since the idea is to get air flowing across your parts, make sure that the cables don't block either fan. CH Last edited by Computer Hobbyist; 02-28-2002 at 10:05 PM. |

Hi bhome83,
The Antec 80mm case fans have the standard 4 pin pass-through connectors. You would connect the female 4 pin end (from the fan) to the male 4 pin connector from the power supply. You can use the male end (from the fan) to connect multiple fans together in a chain, or you could just let it hang unconnected. The connector is designed so you can connect the fan to an open power supply connector or if there are none available, you can install the connector in between a power supply connector and a drive (pass-through). This is not recommended for the primary hard drive, but it's fine to connect them to the optical drives (CD-ROM, DVD or CD-RW). Cricket
