I thought all monitors hooked up in the paraelle port,
but my new monitor has 15 pins and must hook up some other way. I have a VGA Furtura monitor. Could someone help me on this, or do I need to use an adapter? |

Hi ladyc,
No, you don't need an adapter. The parallel port is usually used to hook up things like printers. The video port is a whole separate port. It is a 15-pin db connector (should have 3 rows of 5 holes each), whereas the parallel port is 25-pin (2 rows, 1 is 13 holes the other is 12 holes). There should be a port on the back of your computer that will match it, either coming out on the level of the motherboard (if its onboard video) or from one of the expansion slots (if its an add-on card. Basically, just compare the shape and pin number on the plugs...should be pretty easy to find.
