Thanks for the string,I usually log on to 46k. I did tried it with no performance gain. The reason I was asking about the "AT" is because someone else gave me a string to hang the modem if someone calls the house since I only have one telephone line. But apparently I didn't work, so I wanted to know if it was necessary to enter preceding code. Thanks.

I've been trying to enter a new string but the old one keeps poping up. When adding new strings how do I get rid of the old one? Thanks.

Charles, where are you entering the string? If you enter it here, it will override anything in NVRAM, thus keeping what you want:

double click My Computer, dial up networking. Right click the ISP, properties. On General tab, select configure, connections tab, advanced. Enter your string under "extra settings". If this doesn't fix, let me know and we'll visit Hyperterminal.

I was entering the strings at device manager, modems,properties, connection and advance. I couldn't get rid of the old string I had there, it would stay there even when I typed a new string. Now it's fine when I did it like you mentioned in your last post. What happens when you have entered a string and then you want to entered another one to do something else? Do strings compound one over the other? How do you revert them? Do you have a string to hang up modem when you have a call coming in? Thanks.

You can put everything on 1 line and depending on what you're entering, may have to be separated by a semi-colon (. The desire to be disconnected is a big iffy. Might try either S10=7 or S10=16. No guarantees unless you get a call-waiting modem and you have call-waiting. What string are you entering now?

I'm sure this modem has call waiting and I do have call waiting from my telephone company. I e-mailed support@diamondlegacy.com to get a string but no answer yet. Someone here suggested I try S202=32S95=1S10=1 but it actually disconnected the modem permanently since I couldn't log back on and it gave me a 630 code indicating modem was not connecting. I will try the ones you suggested and see. The manual has a whole bunch of these strings but I don't know exactly what they all mean since none specifically calls for the situation where you want to be disconnected ONLY if someone calls. There are strings that allows you to see who's calling with caller ID but then you have to activate TAD and I don't want to get that complicated or keep this PC turned on all the time. Someone else mentioned Hotcall(HC2000) for $40.00, I read on it and it sounds good but I don't want to spend the money if a simple string will do. Thanks.
