Question Help - Que DVD-RAM Drive problems!

Need help desperately….

Computer: compaq Presario 1800 laptop
OS: Windows XP
HD/RAM: 30G/192MB
Hardware problem: Que Firewire DVD-RAM Drive (model no. QPDVRPN1F)
Connection: Adaptec Fire Connect notebook 3 port firewire cardbus
Serial No.: KZ18232237
Software: NeoDVD Standard 2.1/Power DVD/SAI Utility (accompanying CD ROM)

Problem:
I loaded all the software as instructed, plugged in my hardware, and the XP software found the hardware and installed the following drivers (as listed in my hardware properties):

· Vendor Sbp2 SBP2 DVDRAM Device (disk drive)

· Vendor Sbp2 SBP2 DVDROM Device (DVD/CD-R)

I can read DVD and audio CDs, but cannot write to the Que hardware!!. When I try to write or drag and drop to the drive icon in my computer or via the Neo DVD software I receive an error message:-

“G\ is not accessible.

The request could not be performed because of an I/O error”

I have tried to solve the problem by uninstalling and re-installing the software and drivers, but to no avail……please help. I am going nuts trying to solve this. People have suggested this is a driver issue. I have also gone to the QPS and other forums searching for possible answers but no luck.

Can anyone help??…

I can only suggest checking the properties in device manager.

You have suggested checking the device manager properties. Thanks for the answer, but what am I checking for in the device manager?

Any more input would be greatly appreciated, although I still wonder if this is a software issue.....especially as I mentioned in my original e-mail, that I can read audio and DVD ROMs, but cannot write.

When you click on cdrom in device manager all of the devices you mentioned should be listed. If you click on the particular device you will be able to checK the drivers and properties. Check all of the settings. If you device is not listed try reinstalling it.
