Boom CD Drive woes

I was wandering if anyone could help me with a problem I have with my CD drive(not R or RW etc). I think it's a Samsung. About 40% of the time that it's being used it will spin down every 5 to 20 seconds. Although resetting does not seem to help and it happens with all CD's now and then that is all the information I have. Any help?

Hi domhal,

First, the drive itself could be bad. If possible, swap it out with another and see if the new drive has the same problems.

Second, your system may be underpowered. What's the watt rating of your power supply and what other components do you have in the system?

Hope that helps.
