Ink Jet Suggestions
I am loking at purchasing a new ink jet printer. I had considered the Lexmark
Z53 at only $99.00 dollars, but the reviews give the black cartridge a 650 page life and the color cartridge 275 pages. At more than $30.00 a cartridge this is riduculous. Can anyone suggest a ink jet under $150 that is worth purchasing. I will need photo quaility printing. Thanks in advance!

If you have a local Sam's Club, they have the discontinued HP 895C for $100 - that's a steal at that price, it's a workhorse. Photo quality is quite acceptable but not state of the art by any means. The Epson 777 is under $100 and gives excellent photo quality, but ink is even more expensive than the Lexmark and it's a mechanical weakling.

I've spent all day reading reviews. I am leaning towards the Canon S520.
ink is VERY afordable and I like the way it has four ink cartridges. reduces the waste in color ink. I'ts 2400x 1200 and has good print speeeds. markkerr |

I'm not going to get into what printer is best (my Epson 600q has been a rock solid workhorse for 3 1/2 years and produces photo quality prints), but I would suggest researching to see if the printer you're considering can use generic replacement cartridges. I pay $6-$8 for my B&W's and about $9-$12 for color (the color quality varies, but all the B&W have been just fine). There are tons of suppliers on the web (check out Ebay for starters....that's where I get mine). Even Sam's Club had a set of 3 generic B&W's that were designed for my Epson and the price was only $15. You needn't pay $50-$60 for a set of replacement cartridges (that's insane, isn't it?).
Here's an example....(I've never ordered from them, just giving you something to start with) http://www.inkforless.com |
