Install Printer
Hi: I have an Epson Stylus 760 printer. Works great but every time I start Win.XP I get a "new hardware found" message and XP tries to install my printer. The printer shows up in control panel,prints great. I downloaded up-dated drivers but no different. I tried letting the install go thru it's routine but it gets to a point and says "Windows cannot find the drivers".Pointing it to the CD just gets me a second printer installed. What can I try next?

When you get a second printer installed, does it still detect new hardware on boot. If not, wipe out the first one.

HAL: I wiped them both out and let XP re-install from my Printer CD but it still insists on finding a new printer. When I let it go on it's own(Let windoze search for the best drivers) it says cannot install,drivers not found.Next step I guess is Epson Support.

Is the driver your loading an updated XP compatible driver? If not download the latest XP compatible driver from your printer manufacturers web site.

Yes, I downloaded the new XP driver from Epson's Web Site,unzipped & installed no problem. I don't have it on a disk so when XP wants to install the printer again,it says it can't find the driver.By the way, before installing the new driver I uninstalled the printer and re-installed using the new driver. The printer works great,considering XP doesn't think it's installed.
