Question Switching IDE cables

This may be the dumbest question of all time, but I'm going to ask it anyway...

On a brand new build, after initial boot, CMOS configuration, and Operating System installation... is it possible to simply switch the cables for IDE devices? For various reasons, on my SOYO Dragon+ I'd like to swap devices on my IDE 1 & IDE 3 cables. What will happen if I do this? Thank you!
