Hello everyone...
Does anyone out there have a Gigabyte GA-7DXR+ MOBO?? I'm using that MOBO in my new build. I find that it is a good MOBO it suports RAID it includes USB 2.0 (amazingly faster than previous USB version!). Thing is i shutdown my PC but for some reason the keyboard still gets power even though the PC is off...And the integrated USB still has power going trough it with the PC shut off....I feel a bit uncomfortable knowing this. I have read the from start to end and i don't find a setting that i can relate to, to prevent this...This is my first build so maybe the answer is right there in my face but i just can't find it..Anyone that has seen this and has solved it?? Another thing is i was having problems with my CPU overheating...i thought a bigger fan would help..then i a saw a friends computer and checked his bios and found out that his fan was going at 5500 RPM in my case mine wich is the same brand but a bit bigger runs between 4400-4500 that a 1000 RPM under!!! i'm planing on getting a Dragon Orb.hopefully this will fix the problem . But if it doesn't i'll start wondering if my MOBO isn't supplying enough voltage to my CPU fan. Any tips or comments are greatly apreciated guys...Thanks in advance for any comments! PR Trash |

I think the keyboard has to do with some type of feature where you can turn the pc on with a keystroke. I do not know the name of the function but thought I would throw this in here. If I am wrong can somebody correct me . HTH

Hi PR_Trash,
Look through your motherboard manual for something called "Keyboard Power ON Function" or something similar and find out how to disable this feature for your motherboard. This will stop the power going to your keyboard when the system is off. I'm not sure about the USB port though. What kind of CPU temps are you getting and what heatsink/fan unit are you using now? I'd suggest you stay away from the DragonOrb and look at the Thermalright AX-7, Thermalright SK-6, Vantec CCK-6035D, Vantec CCK-6027D, Swiftech MCXC370, Cooler Master HHC-001, Cooler Master HCC-002 or GlobalWin CAK-II 38 instead. Orbs have a poor track record for CPU cooling performance. I've used the Thermalright SK-6 and Vantec CCK-6027D with good results. All the ones I've listed are good performers. It's a good idea to connect a high speed heatsink fan directly to the power supply power cable instead of the motherboard CPU fan header. You can get a special adapter that will allow you to connect the RPM sensor wire to the CPU fan header and the power connector to the power supply cable. RPM Adapter Cricket

Same problem
I'm afraid this does not help, but you are not alone.
I have recently built a new computer with a Gigabyte GA-7DX+ MOBO and i have exactly the same problem - keyboard and USB mouse. Have searched evrywhere for an answer, but to no success. Will post any solutions I find. |

Hi PR_Trash,
To disable this function, is it through BIOS or by a jumper on the motherboard? Check the Gigabyte website for a BIOS update, it may have a fix for this. Or you could just turn off power at your surge suppressor, that's what I do. Cricket

To get around the problem I simply turn of the power supply on back of my computer.
There is not a jumper setting for this as I have checked. Whenever I mention bios updates to my techie mates they all just laugh at me and say try it if I'm brave enough - is it really that bad to change bios? Thanks
