"whiny" fan on mobo.....

ok, i have an epox8k7a, it is about 4 months old. Just recently when i turn on my computer there is a really loud whining noise. It is coming from the onboard fan, when i stop it with my finger, the noise stops. There are no wires around it or anything interfering with it. What can i do?

Replace the fan. Sounds like the bearings are shot. There should be four screws that secure the fan to the heat sink. Measure your fan and order one.

phat

Take a soft brush and a can of air and clean the fan out. If this doesn't help, remove the fan and try a shot of WD-40 into the bearing area. If that still doesn't help, replace the fan.
