Well I can't get my mobo to reconize my sound card. It has been working but just the other day my computer locked up and i rebooted to find out i had no sound. I tried reseating it and refreshing to try and get it reconized but nothing has worked. Now for why I am stupid. I came home to find water on my desk. I don't know if a little got im my computer but there was no signs of water on it or in it. But my sound card just quit working. Is it possible that maybe a litte drop got on the motherboard and just messed up the pci slots or just the sound card. Everything else works just great. I don't under stand how just the pci slots for the sound card could be affected but who knows.... any input will be greatly appreciated and yes I know It was stupid to leave water on my desk

Hi Jeradln82,
Did you go into Device Manager and remove the soundcard entry? Try removing the soundcard from Device Manager and then shutdown the PC. Reboot your PC to Safe Mode. Check in Device Manager again and remove any reference to the sound card from there. Reboot the PC to normal Windows and see if Windows detects the sound card. If it does, it will load the correct drivers for it. If it doesn't, the sound card or motherboard may have been damaged by the water. Cricket

There is no sound card entry in the device manager. I refreshed while in the device manager and it found nothing. I switched the sound card to a different pci slot and still nothing. I just find it hard to believe the all pci slots got messed up. Thank you for the replies....Boy i just want to kick my self

Hi Jeradln82,
Could be the soundcard is dead and not the motherboard. Have you tried the sound card in another PC? Do you have another sound card you can try in this PC? Cricket

I just thought of that on my way to work. I have an older SB card that im going to try. A dead card would be a lot better than a damaged mobo. Thanks for the recommendations....It's all greatly appreciated.
