Entry Level Digital Camera.
I have been looking at Polaroid's offerings in digital cameras as a local retailer is selling the "PhotoMAX FUN! 620 (or the 640 SE) Digital Camera" for less then $40 (Can). I was wondering if anyone here has any experiences with either of these cameras and there performances. I am not expecting much for the cost, but if anyone can tell me how many photos I could expect from a set of batteries and how does the 640*480 pixel resolution compare to other 640*480 pixel cameras. The reason I listed both the 620 and 640 SE is I can't remember which one the store carried. Also can either of these cameras be used as web-cams (the polariod site says no) or hooked up to a TV/VCR via the RCA input; a cheap AFGA ePhoto Smile (funny blue one) had the NTSC out but had to return it as it wouldent take more the 5 pictures on a set of batteries even when my battery tester and voltmeter said they were good.
Any opinions on the PhotoMAX FUN! 620 (or the 640 SE) Digital Camera would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I have no experience with that camera, but I have a cheap AGFA CL18 that I use to take pictures for ebay sales. Since most of my pictures are indoors with flash it would go thru batteries about every 48 photos. I have a battery charger so I bought some AA rechargeable batteries and use them. They are only good for about 16 to 24 pictures before needing recharge but for my use that isn't a problem.
You can buy AA batteries in bulk and cut down on the cost if you plan on using it a lot. Chas

I have a Polaroid PDC300 which is slightly higher end. But is worth the few extra dollars since it comes with a power supply and an LCD. I think if you are lucky you can get a Polaroid PDC600
new off of Ebay for about 80 to 100 dollars. Your better off going with a higher end camera even if it is more money and even if your a newbie. Look for a camera that has a flash, a connectable power supply and the higher number of pixels the better the quality of pictures. I also bought a Relysis Dimera this camera costs about 60 dollars you have to use a camera battery with it, but this camera with a flash is a good value for the money. |
