How high in the future do you think this motherboard will support?
I have been thinking of future upgradability on my motherboard. Does anyone know how high the abit kr7a-133r will support before they change the design of processors yet again? I have a 1800+ right now, and i think they are up to 2200? maybe it's only 2100 at the moment, but has there been any word on how high they are going to go before they change the design again?
Thanx Oz

Your board will support the new Thoroughbred and Bartons with a BIOS upgdate. There is no official word as to how high the Thoroghbred/Barton will go up to, but I would imagine probably around 3000+ (PR rating). The Barton's will be the same as the Thoroughbred but will have 512k of L2 cache.
AMD's Hammer with the 64bit support series will be based on a new socket design though. But these processors won't be out until late this year or early next year. Vlad |

cool, thanx. I was hoping it would at least go that high. My old pII 350 could only be upgraded to a 450, woohoo, :P hehe. This is at least going to help alot in the future, thanx again

Yep that's one of things I like about AMD, three generations of processors (TBird, XP, & TBred/Barton) using the same socket design.
