I'm looking at a $60 Shuttle MB on newegg. One of the user reviews said that they couldn't use their old PC100 and PC133 SDRAM in the DDR slots on the MB.
Will my SDRAM work or do I have to buy all new DDR? I was planning on buying one piece of 128MB Kingston DDR anyway but I also wanted to fill the three remaining slots with my old PC100s. I can link to the exact MB listing if you need it but I think I have enough info here. Thanks. |

No matter what the board, you can't mix and match DDR and regular SDRAM. Thus you can't put one DDR stick in and use old SDRAM to fill the remaining banks. It's either one type or the other.

Right, SDRAM=168 pin, DDR RAM=184 pin.

EDIT//
Wait, so will SDRAM not even fit? Or can I still use SDRAM if I don't use any DDR. Last edited by Builder; 06-14-2002 at 09:27 AM. |

It won't even fit in the ddr slots. The mobo may have both slots. I am not familiar with whick board you are using.
PS. You know using sdram is like attaching an anchor to a racecar don't you? Why buy good components like that and then hobble them?

Wel the PC2100 DDR has dropped down to $46 for 256 of Crucial.
That's not too bad. It was around $80 a month ago.

I just bought a stick of 256MB DDR memory from crucial for 39.99 with a 10 dollar coupon deal they had yesterday. Check it out.
