Hi charlie1,

Make sure there aren't any wires getting sucked into the fan blades.

How old is the heatsink/fan unit? Could be the bearings are giving out. If so, you can easily replace the fan with another of the same size. They are just held on with screws.

The Cooler Master fans generally aren't that noisy, most spin at less than 5500 RPM.

Does it make a weird noise as it speeds up or slows down? This would be the slippage, which would be reason to blame the bearings. Be it new or not, a bearing can be bad from the start.

Try running it off the heatsink. That is not to say run your CPU without the fan, but run the fan off of the heatsink on another computer or something.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Most of the DP5s are about 37dB according to the coolermaster website. 37dB isn't all that loud (subjective I know).
