upgrade questions

I'm planning on upgrading my computer (see sig) to a Epox board, XP 2100+ and 512 DDR. Will I have to reinstall windows or anything? Will 300 watts be enough? Thanks..

You should not have to, but I have not yet put a new MB on Winxp. I know there is something about having to call MSoft to reactivate. There is registry tip for doing this under tips and tricks but does not work for xp. I've always just went into device manager and removed everything, then one last restart into safe mode and check device manager again and remove whatever is left, then shutdown, install new parts and fire it up! If I were working on someones business machine though I would be a lot more careful if even doing it at all. I wouldn't want to be responsible for loosing their data. With mine I really don't care if it flops I just reformat and reload fresh, but most of my upgrades have went well with being able to save all data! Read one post here where someone did it with win2000 an was totally seamless just shutdown, replace parts and reboot. I've not quite had that ease but win98 and me don't seem to handle those things as well!

300 watts should be fine if it's a quality PSU.

You might want to check this page out:
